Federal grant aims to improve job opportunities and training in southeast Missouri
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Heartland News) - The U.S. Department of Labor’s awarded $3.54 million to a southeast Missouri organization to train workers in the trades and information technology.
Community Partnership of Southeast Missouri(CPSEMO) officials say they will mainly use the grant money to train workers in skilled trades and construction, as well as information technology with an emphasis in using drone technology in several industries.
The funding will support CPSEMO’s initiative, SEMO Regional Industry Skills and Employment(SEMO RISE). The initiative is designed to train more workers and generate jobs in 14 counties in southeast Missouri.
“We want individuals to have the resources and support they need to succeed, employers to find the skilled workers they need, and our communities to continue growing and prospering,” said Ryan Essex, Interim Executive Director of Community Partnership of Southeast Missouri.
