JACKSON, MO (KFVS) - A boil water order issued for several residents in Jackson, Missouri was lifted on Wednesday, September 5.

The boil order was issued on Monday because they lost pressure in their system. The city said there was never a confirmed contamination.

Free bottled water was offered to residents affected by the order.

An 8-inch water main broke at 4012 E. Jackson Blvd. around 7:30 a.m. on Labor Day. Water Distribution workers replaced 6 feet of water line, flushed the system, restored the pressure, and returned water service to all customers by 3:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

According to the City of Jackson, the Jackson Fire and Rescue teamed up with the SEMO Food Bank to offer the free water. One case of bottled water per household was available for pickup at Fire Station #1, located at 525 S. Hope Street.

The city asked that you bring a photo ID or utility bill to show your proof of address at the time of pickup.

They currently have 144 cases, with 24 bottles in each case, to give away on a first-come, first-serve basis and only those customers located in the boil water order area are eligible to receive a free case.
