REYNOLDS COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - It has been 10 years since a dam gave way at the Taum Sauk Mountain Reservoir.

The dam sent a billion gallons of water down Proffit Mountain. Luckily, the campground below was empty.

A park ranger and his family were injured, but have recovered.

Ameren Missouri paid $50 million to help restore the area, including Johnson Shut-Ins State Park.

In 2014, more than 300,000 guests visited the park.
