Passenger killed, driver injured in Dunklin County crash

DUNKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (Heartland News) - Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a serious single-vehicle crash in Dunklin County on Tuesday evening, August 11.

The crash happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Missouri EE, approximately 4 miles north of Kennett.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), a northbound car went off the left side of the road and hit a tree.

The driver, identified by MSHP as a 50-year-old Clarkton, Missouri, man was rushed to a Poplar Bluff hospital with moderate injuries.

MSHP said the passenger, a 52-year-old Kennett man, was taken to a Pemiscot County hospital and later died from his injuries.

Troopers report the car had extensive damage and was towed from the scene.

MSHP said this is the 36th crash-related death in Troop E for 2026.
