Couple killed in head-on crash; 6-year-old son crawls out of wreckage to find help
DEARBORN COUNTY, Ind. (WXIX/Gray News) — Two young boys are now without parents after their mother and father were killed in a head-on crash.
The deadly crash happened Friday in Dearborn County, Indiana.
Indiana State Police said a driver crossed the center line and hit the Walters family head-on.
Jordan and Sierra Walters were killed. A family member said the couple’s 6-year-old son, Knight, crawled out of the wreckage to get help.
“Knight was able to get himself out of his booster seat and try to wake his mommy and daddy and crawled out of a vehicle, climbed up an embankment and spoke to a woman saying his little brother needs help and his mommy and daddy won’t wake up,” a family member said.
No charges have been filed in the crash. Toxicology results are still pending.

Brothers now in care of uncle and aunt
Knight and his 4-year-old brother, Kyro, are now in the care of Jordan Walters’ twin brother, Jerad, and his wife, Jessica.
“I lost my best friend. The one person that knew everything about me in this world,” Jerad Walters said.
Jordan Walters coached youth baseball, the same league in which his boys played. Sierra Walters ran a daycare and was described by those who knew her as a woman who loved all children.
“He [Jordan Walters] always wanted boys. He got two, and he adored both of them. I’ve never seen a prouder father, and Sierra was a proud mother. They loved those boys so much, and it was just such a tragic accident,” a family member said.
Family had just returned from vacation
The family had recently returned from their first vacation — a trip to Myrtle Beach. Family members said the couple talked about having more kids and building more memories.
“They always wanted to help in any way, shape, or form. They were at all the school events. You don’t have parents like that. They’re the prototype for what a quality parent is,” a community member said.
The boys’ aunt and uncle said they do not know what the future holds, but they will be there for the boys.
“We will always be there for them and talk about their mom or dad and when they have questions, just remind them how much they were loved and adored by their parents,” Jessica Walters said.
A GoFundMe has been set up for the family.
