Mo. Drought Assessment Committee to meet May 13

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - The Missouri Drought Assessment Committee will meet Monday morning, May 13.

According to a release from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, this will be the first time the committee has met since Governor Mike Parson extended the state’s drought alert to September 1.

Missouri has been under a drought alert continuously since May 2023. A previous alert was also active from July 2022 to March 2023.

During the meeting, the committee will continue to coordinate state and federal response to drought conditions.

The meeting is open to the public. It will be in the LaCharrette and Nightingale conference rooms at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building, 1101 N. Riverside Drive in Jefferson City. You can watch it via live stream here.

The committee is made up of representatives from state and federal partner agencies.

Residents are encouraged to help local, state and national efforts by submitting a survey on drought conditions in their area.
