Driver killed in 2-vehicle crash

PEMISCOT COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a serious two-vehicle crash in Pemiscot County, Missouri, on Sunday afternoon, June 21.

The crash happened around 3:33 p.m. on southbound Interstate 55, approximately 5 miles south of Hayti.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash involved a GMC Yukon and a Ford Escape.

After the vehicles collided, MSHP said the Escape went off the right side of the road and flipped.

Troopers report the driver of the Escape, a 70-year-old Hayti Heights woman, died at the scene and the driver of the Yukon, a 48-year-old Caruthersville man, did not report any injuries.

MSHP said the Hayti Heights woman was not wearing a seat belt and this is the 23rd crash-related death for 2026.
