Replica ‘Knight Rider’ car on display at museum gets hit with speeding ticket

(CNN) - An authentic replica of the famed talking car from the classic TV show “Knight Rider” that’s been sitting in an Illinois museum for years has received a traffic ticket.

The Volo Museum said they received a $50 ticket in the mail from New York City. According to the citation, KITT was speeding in a school zone on April 22.

But the museum said the iconic 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am has been in place and on display for years. They believe the New York City system may have linked the speeding car’s novelty license plate reading “Knight” to the car in the museum.

The museum has since requested a hearing about the ticket.
