SOUTHERN Ill. (KFVS) - A Georgia man is behind bars following a high-speed chase in southern Illinois that ended in a crash on Interstate 57.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Sadarius Turner, 25, of Atlanta, Georgia, is charged with reckless driving, aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude authorities.

The chase started in Washington County on Thursday afternoon, December 5 when investigators say Turner took off from a felony stop on I-64.

Authorities say the ensuing chase reached speeds of more than 100 miles an hour before Turner crashed into multiple vehicles on I-57 near the Benton exit.

A passenger in the vehicle Turner was driving was also taken into custody but later released.

Turner is being held at the Jefferson County Jail.

According to the sheriff’s office, he has 11 felony fraud warrants out of the state of Virginia.
