Frost and Freeze Warnings in Effect as Temperatures Drop
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Heartland News) -A cold front has moved through the Heartland, ushering in the coldest air we’ve seen all season. Frost and freeze warnings are in effect as temperatures drop significantly through the weekend.
Tonight: Expect gradually clearing skies as temperatures fall through the 40s. By morning, lows will settle in the lower to middle 30s. If you have sensitive plants or outdoor items, now’s the time to protect them.
Saturday: Partly sunny skies will dominate with a few high clouds possible during the afternoon. Highs will reach the middle to upper 50s — still chilly, so keep a jacket handy for your outdoor plans.
Sunday: This is when the coldest air arrives. Sunday morning, most areas will wake up below freezing with lows in the upper 20s and lower 30s. Frost will be widespread. However, sunny skies will bring a mild afternoon with highs climbing into the lower to middle 60s.
