First freeze of the season this weekend

(Heartland News) - The big cold front has arrived, along with a few sprinkles, today and will begin the dive in temperatures for the coming weekend. As of this morning, multiple frost and freeze alerts are in place.

• Freeze Warning: Tonight through Saturday morning. S. IL (north of I-24/57 interchange) and SEMO (Cape to Poplar Bluff) included.
• Frost Advisory: Same time as Freeze Warning. All of West KY and the rest of SE MO and S. IL (south of Marion to the Ohio River).
• Freeze Watch: Saturday evening through Sunday morning. All of the Heartland included except Dunklin and Pemiscot counties in MO included.

Overnight lows this weekend are going to be the coldest of the season so far, many with their first freeze north of the rivers. Bundle up accordingly this evening as the temperatures quickly fall through the 50’s and then 40’s. Many of us tomorrow morning will wake up to lows near 30 degrees! Highs this weekend will struggle to the middle and upper 50’s.

After another brief warmup to start next week, another cold front slowly enters the picture, sadly with no rain, and could give us another shot at freezing temperatures later in the week.
