Heartland gas price check: Cape Girardeau among cheapest areas for gas, despite spike

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The continued escalations between the U.S. and Iran is costing you more money at the gas pump.

According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of gas in Missouri is now $3.84.

That’s 24 cents higher than this time last week, and nearly a dollar more when you compare it to last year.

At $3.77 a gallon, AAA reports Cape Girardeau is actually one of the cheapest places to buy gas among the major metropolitan areas.

Taking a look at other heartland states, at an average of $4.25 a gallon, Illinois is one of the most expensive states to for gas.

Kentucky is one of the least expensive states at $3.72 a gallon.
