Graves County man arrested following animal cruelty case; dead dog discovered
GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KFVS) - A Graves County man was arrested after investigators said two dogs were left chained in the sun without shade, resulting in one of their deaths.
On Wednesday, July 1, Graves County Animal Control contacted the Graves County Sheriff’s Office regarding an animal cruelty case.
A request was made for a welfare check on two chained dogs, out in the sun with no shade.
An adult dog was found dead.
According to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office, a temperature-measuring device was used to determine the dog’s body temperature.
They said the device only reads up to 111 degrees and the reading of the dog’s body temperature exceeded the limits of the device.
The owner of the dogs, 29-year-old Gage W. Walker, was charged with torture of a dog or cat and was arrested.
He was taken to the Graves County Jail, then later sent to an out-of-county detention center.
