State Fire Marshal investigating house fire in Marion, Ill.; 1 injury reported

MARION, Ill. (KFVS) - The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a house fire in Marion.

Crews were called at 4:47 a.m. to the 1200 block of Vickburg Street to a report of a single-story house fire.

According to Marion Fire Department Capt. Chad Schmid, when crews arrived they learned a man and a woman were inside when the fire broke out.

Capt. Schmid said the man suffered extensive burns and was rushed to a local hospital.

The woman was reportedly not hurt.

No other injuries were reported.

Crews cleared the scene around 8 a.m.

Schmid said the home is considered a total loss and the State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.

Members of the Herrin Fire Department provided mutual aid along with the Marion Police Department.
