Jackson’s Ian Lambert wins Missouri Junior Golf Amateur

FARMINGTON, Mo. (KFVS) - A Jackson Senior High student emerged victorious amongst a stacked field at the Missouri Junior Golf Amateur.
Ian Lambert won the Missouri Junior Golf Amateur Championships, on Wednesday, July 10. The tournament at Crown Point Golf Club in Farmington featured some of the best youth golfers in the state, aged 14-18.
Originally, the tournament was scheduled to have 54 holes, but the remnants of Hurricane Beryl curtailed the tournament back down to 36 holes.
Lambert was locked in a close battle after the first round, but he eventually pulled out a one-hole lead, finishing nine-under-par.
Dexter’s rising senior Ben Christian finished second, eight-under, and Jackson’s Marshall Earnheart-Clements also finished in the top 10.
On the girls’ side, Poplar Bluff had two top-10 finishers. Rising senior Olivia Thetford notched T-seventh with seven-over-par, with incoming freshman Anna Bell coming 9th at just one stroke back.
