KY fishing coach charged with sexual abuse

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - A high school fishing coach is facing a number of sex related charges after an investigation.

56-year-old John M. Parks was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 14 and was charged with sexual abuse and using electronic device to induce a minor to engage in sexual or prohibited activities.

Parks is a full-time McCracken County High School fishing coach, according to the sheriff’s office.

On February 14, Kentucky State Police contacted the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office about allegations involving Parks and a minor.

Parks is accused of grabbing a 15-year-old boy’s butt and inner thigh multiple times over the past year for sexual gratification.

Detectives interviewed the victim and looked into the electronic communication between Parks and the victim.

Around 10:58 p.m. on Thursday, Parks was arrested and a warrant was issued to search Parks’ vehicle, home and to recover any electronic devices.

Detectives found a image on his cell phone of a second male victim wearing no clothes. The image was taken on August 25, 2018.

They identified the male and learned that they were a minor at the time the images were taken. The male did not know Parks had the images.

The investigation continues and a number of electronic and storage devices will be analyzed.
