A southeast Missouri army veteran is participating in the annual Wreaths Across America campaign.

According to Buchheit Logistics, Thomas Tinnin, who is a driver for Buchheit Logistics left Scott City on Nov. 30, 2015 to head to Maine.

There, he picked up a load of wreaths for southeast Missouri.

Tinnin is retired from the Army National Guard and served in Iraq.

After retiring from the military he was hired by Buchheit Logistics and has been part of its team for more than three years.

Wreaths Across America began in 1992 with a trailer load of wreaths decorated by volunteers with the intention of putting a wreath on every headstone at Arlington National Cemetery.

Currently, the national organization has more than 900 participating locations across the country.

The wreaths picked up by Tinnin will be laid on headstones at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield as well as five smaller cemeteries around the Scott City and Benton areas.

On Thursday, December 10 at 9:30 a.m., the decorated trailer will journey to Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield to make its first delivery.

Tinnin will be escorted the entire route by police, American Legion Riders, Patriot Guard Riders, and others from Lawless Harley Davidson.

Tinnin will haul the remaining wreaths to the American Legion in Benton where they will later be taken to Old Benton Cemetery, St. Denis Cemetery, Lightner Cemetery, St. Lawrence Church, and St. Joseph Cemetery.

All wreaths are laid by volunteers on National Wreaths Across America Day on December 12, 2015.

A ceremony will be held on December 12, 2015, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield at 11:00 a.m.
