Historical society wants help preserving Jackson County history

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) -

If you love history and believe it's important to preserve it, then you're a perfect candidate to help out the Jackson County Historical Society.  

The Society is looking for volunteers to help with different things like repairing/replacing light fixtures, light carpentry work, interior painting, or manning an informational booth at seasonal area events.  

Help is also needed with cataloging photographs, lawn care, computer technology, public relations, and much more.  

For the majority of the work, on the job training is provided.

Established in 1969, the Jackson County Historical Society is staffed solely by volunteers. It's purpose is to discover, collect, and preserve materials which may help to establish or illustrate the history of Jackson County.  The Society is located in Murphysboro.
