CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The mayors of Cape Girardeau and Jackson have placed a friendly wager on the Cape Girardeau-Jackson football game on Friday night.

Whichever team loses, their city's mayor will write a $500 personal check to the Greater Cape Girardeau Area Community foundation grant-making program for use in Cape Girardeau, Jackson and Scott City.

The foundation is one of 49 affiliates of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.

No city funds will be used for their private donation.

"We're certainly glad for the support of both mayors," said Moe Sandfort of the foundation, "and we're glad to be a part of all the excitement Friday night."

Both Mayor Harry Rediger of Cape Girardeau and Mayor Dwain Hahs of Jackson have publicly declared their intent to communicate more as neighboring cities, even when things get competitive.
