Clayton Mosley in court for preliminary hearing

JACKSON, Mo. - Another big case lands in a Heartland courtroom. Clayton Mosley faces murder charges in the beating death of his father early last month. You may remember police say Mosley used a hammer to kill his father in the early morning of January 5th.
A lot of emotional testimony inside the courtroom - especially when Betty Mosley, the victim's wife, and defendant's mother took the stand.
She remembered waking up to a strange voice and says she rushed out to find the voice belonged to her son Clayton.
Betty Mosley says she actually saw her son hitting her husband in the head with a hammer.
The first police officer on the scene remembers seeing the victim - Charles Mosley lying in a pool of blood with a golf ball size hole in the side of his head.
Mosley spoke with Heartland News as officers brought him over to the courthouse, he denied killing his father, and then added he thought he was going to be going home. Prosecutor Morley Swingle says he plans on asking the state to mentally evaluate Clayton Mosley.
Betty Mosley says her son had mental problems a few years ago, and at the end of her testimony she turned to her son and said "I love you baby."
Naturally that left several other family members crying.
For now Clayton Mosley's being held in the Cape Girardeau County Jail on $1,000,000 bond.
