Man injured in early morning Sikeston shooting
SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) - A man was injured in an early morning shooting on Friday, Aug. 24.
According to Assistant Chief McMillen with Sikeston Department of Public Safety, 10 to 12 shots were fired on the 400 block of Matthews Avenue around 3:15 a.m.
The shots struck a house several times and injured a 49-year-old man in his bed.
The man was hit in the heel. He has been treated and released.
McMillen says they have no reason to believe the two shootings in Sikeston are related.
"What I would say is common between both of them, it looks like the victims were specifically targeted, and I'm not sure exactly why in either case," said Assistant Chief Jim McMillen. "In the shooting from earlier this week it appears like it may be some type of robbery motive. The one last night on Mathews Street, the act he committed made it appear that it was some type of retaliation or some type of threats of violence."
A 27-year-old man was killed in a shooting on Thursday, Aug. 23 in Sikeston.
