SOUTHERN ILLINOIS (KFVS) - Two southern Illinois natives have been nominated for Top Illinois Entertainer.

It's all part of the Illinois Top 200 project.

Oscar Micheaux was the first major African-American filmmaker. He was born in Metropolis, Ill. in 1884.

Elzie Segar, who grew up in Chester, Ill., created the character Popeye.
