Changes announced for Cape Girardeau, Barkley Regional airports

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Travelers who fly from Cape Girardeau Regional Airport and Barkley Regional Airport will see changes coming in 2019.
A news conference on the changes was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 23.
According to the Cape Girardeau Airport Manager of the airport, the changes include new flight times.

The Airport Regional Advisory Board Chairman explained SkyWest Airlines will be providing an additional United Airlines flight from the Chicago O'Hare airport to Cape Girardeau. There will be new daily stops through Paducah, Kentucky as well.
Changes start Jan. 7, 2019.
This will increase the number of departures and provide more options for passengers.
There will also be new times added to the list of available. A 6 a.m. flight, a noon flight and a 4 p.m. flight will be available for passengers Monday through Friday.
The 6 a.m. and 4 a.m. flights will stop once in Paducah and head to Chicago. The noon flight is direct to and from Chicago.
On Saturday and Sunday, passengers will have the option of two additional round-trip flights each day.

Until Jan. 6 flights with stops will still go through Quincy, Illinois.
According to the Airport Manager ridership has increased each month since the original move to SkyWest Airlines.
The DOT approved the changes on Aug. 22 according to officials with the airport.
This will give access to 900 seats weakly increasing from the 600 seats the airport has now.
