CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - A hearing was held at SIU's Research Park Office on Monday, August 20 between Illinois State lawmakers led by Representative Emanuel "Chris" Welch (D) and leaders from the school and surrounding Carbondale community.

The point was for state reps to hear out the school on funding problems and the potential to change the allocation of funds between the Carbondale and Edwardsville campuses.

Several panels composed of University leaders, students, local businesses, teachers, and others offered testimonies to the lawmakers to show SIUC's needs and how they could be helped by more state funding and legislation.
