DYERSBURG, TN (KFVS) - Three juveniles were in custody following a theft in Dyersburg, Tennessee according to police.
The on-call Dyer County Juvenile Court officer was contacted and advised officers to issue citations to two of the juveniles, both 17, and to transport the third, 16, to the McDowell Center.
On Sunday, Aug. 19 at 3:20 a.m., Dyersburg Police Officers were called to the area of Ewell Avenue.
The caller said a group of subjects were running from house to house putting items in backpacks. Once in the area, officers saw both driver side doors open on a vehicle in the 1500 block.
Officers found the owner of the vehicle and determined that a backpack was missing along with a small amount of cash. After searching the area, officers found three possible suspects were located on foot in the area of the Meadow Lane apartments on 51 Bypass.
None of the suspects could produce any identification and officers determined the three to be juveniles. Officers that were still on the scene of Ewell Avenue found a second vehicle to have been burglarized with cash taken according to the owner. The owner was able to give descriptions of the three juveniles being detained.
Officers searched the backpacks and found property taken from the two vehicles on Ewell that included cash, a laptop pc and other personal property belonging to the owners of the vehicles. A loaded 9mm handgun was found in one of the backpacks that was determined to be stolen from Finley, Tn.
All three juveniles were given a court date of September 19 at 8:30 a.m. for Dyer County Juvenile Court.
