Marion, IL man convicted of criminal sexual assault

MARION, IL (KFVS) - A Marion, Illinois man has been convicted of criminal sexual assault at the Williamson County Courthouse in Marion.

Richard L. Komasinski, 48, of rural Marion, was convicted late Thursday on August 16.

According to information from the State's Attorney's office, the trial stemmed from charges filed in August of 2015, at the time, alleging that Komasinski had committed the assault at his home. The victim was unable to give consent to the sexual act.

Komasinski was convicted by a jury on two counts of criminal sexual assault, both Class 1 felonies, and will be sentenced at a later date.

The trial began on Tuesday. The jury deliberated for about 34 minutes on Thursday afternoon before returning their guilty verdict.

The investigation was handled by the Marion Police Department.
