JACKSON, MO (KFVS) - Sheriff John Jordan's last day was Monday, Aug. 13 after 32 years serving the people of Cape Girardeau County.

Sheriff Jordan is the longest-serving sheriff in Cape Girardeau County history.

Sheriff Ruth Ann Dickerson, the first ever female sheriff in Cape Girardeau County, will serve as the interim sheriff.

Dickerson has worked with the sheriff's office for 35 years and recently served as the Captain of the Business Operations.

There will an election on the November 6 ballot for Cape Girardeau County Sheriff.
