MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A high school football team in western Kentucky made a four-year-old girl's day.

Peggy Duncan's granddaughter, Jamie, was born with interstitial lung disease, but wasn't diagnosed until she was two months old.

Peggy said Jamie has depended on a feeding tube and oxygen ever since.

On August 14, Jamie will turn five.

"She is now on hospice as doctors state there is nothing they can do for her," Peggy said. "This very well may be her last birthday, so we're trying to make it as special as we can."

The McCracken County Mustang Football Boosters Facebook page posted that they learned about Jamie recently and how she wanted as many cards as she could get. The team answered the call.

"The reactions of love and kindness from these boys was overwhelming. They decorated the envelopes, wrote scripture and they enclosed personal trinkets, all without any kind of notice."

Peggy said their family would love to spread the word about cards for Jamie. You can mail a card to Peggy Duncan, 3165 Olive Creek Rd., Benton, KY 42025.
