MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - An early morning traffic stop on Tuesday, Aug. 7 ends in the arrest of a Benton, Kentucky man.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, Gary D. Kelley, 40, a passenger in a car, was reportedly trying to get rid of drug-related items and drugs during a traffic stop around 12:04 a.m on John Puryear Drive.
Deputies conducting the stop say Kelley tried to hide some drug paraphernalia inside of a drink he was holding and shoved some suspected methamphetamine in between the seats of the car where he was sitting.
Kelley was arrested and booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail.
He faces possession controlled substance first-degree/first offense (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia, and tampering with physical evidence charges.
The driver of the Lincoln Towncar, 30-year-old Terry W. Babb, of Paducah, Ky. was ticketed for failure to or improper signal and failure to produce insurance card.
