CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Students at Southeast Missouri State University will have a new place to put their gum when they return for the semester.

The school planted a new gum tree at the top of "cardiac hill".

In May 2018, the old tree split during a brief storm. Unlike its predecessor, this is an actual gumtree.

The university launched a fundraiser to pay for the new tree, which has already collected more than $1,800.
