2 vehicles, 1 motorcycle involved in deadly Marshall Co., KY crash

MARSHALL COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - According to the Kentucky State Police, a crash killed one person in Marshall County on Thursday, Aug. 2.

Officers with Kentucky State Police Post 1 said they received a call from Marshall County Dispatch of a motorcycle crash at the intersection of KY 348 and Cone Road in Benton at approximately 6:15 p.m.

After an investigation, officials learned that Jack R. Clark Jr, 54 of Benton, Ky was traveling west on KY 348 operating a Kawasaki Motorcycle.

At the same time, Robin M Caruso, 39 of Benton, KY was operating a Dodge Magnum also traveling westbound on KY 348 when he stopped to turn left onto Cone Road.

For an unknown reason, officials said Clark failed to stop and ran into the stopped car, after striking the rear end of the car, Clark, and his motorcycle crossed into the eastbound lane and was struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe.

The Tahoe was being operated by Todd A. Whitis, 43 of Mayfield, KY. Whitis was traveling eastbound on KY 348.

Officials said Clark was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.  Clark was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Marshall County Coroner.

KSP Collision Reconstructionist Detective Michael Robichaud and KSP Trooper Aaron Jestes was assisted on the scene by the Marshall County EMS, Marshall County Coroner, Benton Police Department, Benton Fire Department, and Marshall County Sheriff's Office.
