The crash is under investigation, but it's believed the driver lost control on the curve of Wine Hill Rd. near the community of Shiloh Hill. An Illinois State Police Crash Reconstruction team is working to determine the cause.

According to Trico Community Unit School District Superintendent Larry Lovel, Kennedy Anderson and Staci Harsy were killed in the crash and the two young ladies were about to begin their senior year at the high school.

Once school starts, Lovel says extra counselors and social workers will be on campus for any students who needs them. He says many are coming from neighboring school districts who heard about the accident.

"Immediately after I received the phone call yesterday, superintendents offered up services, whatever they could do," he said. "So it is an extended family. Not just in the Trico area but in southern Illinois."

In remembrance of Anderson and Harsy, Trico students are holding a candlelight vigil Thursday,  August 2 at 8:30 p.m.

The vigil will take place in front of the high school entrance.

Students and the community are invited to attend.

Trico Community Unit School District 176 is located in Campbell Hill and has students from several neighboring rural communities in Jackson, Perry, and Randolph, Ill. counties.
