Fisherman's body identified from recovery at Rend Lake

REND LAKE, IL (KFVS) - A fisherman's body was recovered from Rend Lake on Wednesday, August 1.

An 83-year-old Robert Drennan's body was recovered at 2:30 p.m. by the Rend Lake Search and Rescue Dive Team.

A family member reported the man missing at 12:01 p.m. this afternoon.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones, the Ina man was fishing near the bank just south of the Franklin and Jefferson County line on Route 37. His body was found in 8 feet of water with his fishing gear nearby.

Drennan lost his footing on the rip-rap, fell, hit his head which caused him to fall into the water and drown, according to Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler.

No foul play is suspected.

Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources, Franklin Co. Sheriff's Office, U.S. Corp. of Engineers, Rend Lake Search and Rescue and Franklin Co. EMA all responded to the scene.
