Royalton, IL man sentenced for probation violation

MARION, IL (KFVS) - A southern Illinois man is headed to prison for probation violation.

According to Williamson County State's Attorney Brandon Zanotti, 28-year-old James R. Burnett Royalton, Illinois pleaded guilty to one count of theft, a class 3 felony, in August 2015, stemming from an April 2015 arrest in Cambria.

On July 30, 2018 a judge revoked his probation and sentenced him to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

On April 10, 2015, Burnett stole around $3,000 rom a Cambria home. Burnett =violated his probation by failing to appear and pay fines. A warrant was then issued for his arrest.

In addition to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, Burnett will be under mandatory supervised release for one year following his release.

The investigation was handled by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. Assistant State's Attorney Sean DeMello led the prosecution of this case.
