2 facing drug, gun charges after traffic stop in Sikeston, MO

SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) - According to Sikeston DPS, two men are facing drug and gun charges after a traffic stop in Sikeston, Missouri.

On Saturday, July 21at approximately 8:56 p.m., Sikeston DPS Officers conducted a vehicle stop near the intersection of West Malone and Fair Street for defective equipment.

During the vehicle stop, officers learned that the passenger, Demarcus D. Johnson, had a felony arrest warrant from Illinois State Police and was taken into custody.

Sikeston DPS K-9 was deployed to walk around the vehicle.  The K-9 showed that there were controlled substances inside the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle revealed digital scales, approximately 57 grams of marijuana packaged for distribution, three handguns, and ammunition.

The driver of the vehicle, Jasmine Miles, was also taken into custody at that time.

Both Miles and Johnson were charged through Scott County Circuit Court with delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful use of weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Their bonds are each $25,000 cash or surety.
