STE. GENEVIEVE, MO (KFVS) - Missouri Senator Roy Blunt is touring Ste. Genevieve on Monday, July 23.
Blunt and Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski held a Roundtable discussion with community leaders at 8 a.m.
"It is an important part of our story," said Sen. Blunt. "The side that loses sometimes doesn't get to tell the story as well as the side that wins, but the french heritage of the Mississippi river valley: St. Louis, Ste. Genevieve, Kaskaskia, and other places, are a very important part of that story and now's a chance to get more widely told than ever before."
After the roundtable the two senators toured the Amoureaux and the Bequette-Ribault Houses.
In March, lawmakers approved Sen. Blunt's legislation to establish the Ste. Genevieve Historic Park and designated it a s a unit of the National Park Service (NPS).
The village of Ste. Genevieve dates back to the early 1700s. It is Missouri's oldest town.
