According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 22-year-old Bradley R. Hovis, of Festus, for an unknown reason, drove his Ford F150 of the left side of the road and over-corrected.

This caused the truck to travel off the right side of the road, hit a rock bluff and then flip.

Hovis' passenger, 21-year-old Bethany C. Day, of Festus, was killed in the crash.

An ambulance crew took Hovis a St. Louis hospital with minor injuries.

Troopers report that Hovis and Day were not wearing seat belts and the crash totaled the pick-up truck.
