Second Pulaski County Detention Center escapee now in custody
ULLIN, IL (KFVS) - The second Pulaski County Detention Center escapee has been captured.
According to the Union County Illinois Sheriff's Office, the second escapee is now in custody.
18-year-old Alexis Chacon was captured on US 51 south of Anna trying to hitch a ride, according to Union County Sheriff Scott Harvel.
According to the sheriff's office Facebook page, they are assisting the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office in the 5000 block area of U.S. Highway 51 South in Union County for the detention center escapee.
They say the Pulaski County received a tip around 11 a.m. on Thursday that he was seen walking along U.S. 51 in that area.
Authorities are searching for a Hispanic man wearing tan pants, no shirt or shoes. If you see this person, do not approach, call 911.
According to Gayla Jones, a contract liaison with the Detention Center, two inmates escaped from the facility on Wednesday, July 18.
How the inmates escaped, their identities, when it happened and other details are not being released at this time due to an ongoing investigation.
According to the Pulaski County Detention Center's website, the center is a 240-bed facility that houses inmates for Pulaski County, Alexander County and Immigration and Custom Enforcement.
