Armed & dangerous man arrested in connection to deadly Carter Co. shooting

CARTER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The manhunt is over for an armed and dangerous man wanted for a deadly shooting in Carter County.

According to the Carter County Sheriff, 44-year-old Jason E. Roberts was taken into custody in Ellsinore, Missouri at 11:37 p.m. on Friday, July 20.

He was transported to the Butler County Jail and is being held on a $1,000,000 cash or corporate surety bond.

According to Carter County Sheriff Richard Stephens, a 34-year-old man was found dead with an apparent gunshot wound inside a home on Elm Springs Rd. (County Road 327) around 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17.

According to Carter County Coroner Erik McSpadden, the victim in the shooting is Rudy Hernandez, 34, of Ellsinore, Mo. An autopsy was performed on July 17 in Farmington, Mo. The results confirmed that Hernandez died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Division of Drug and Crime Control are helping the Carter County Sheriff's Office with the investigation.
