MURRAY, KY (KFVS) - Murray State University has received the final installment of a $1 million gift from BB&T Bank to support the University's Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business.

The contribution was made payable over the past 10 years in $100,000 annual installments and will encourage the understanding and application of moral capitalism and its tenets.

There is support of faculty fellowships in three distinct academic departments through the college: journalism and mass communications, organizational communication and economics and finance.

According to Dr. Tim Todd, dean of the Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business, "Engaging students in these three departments has placed the discussion of capitalism and other economic systems on the radar for future journalists, organizational communication professionals, economists and finance experts. It broadens the discussion in valuable ways to include the thoughts and insights of individuals who may not ordinarily address these issues in their undergraduate studies. As this theme continues, a speaker series will now be enacted to bring a semi-annual, community-focused address by a national level expert. We are indebted to BB&T for the vision and so very appreciative for the support placed in the faculty and staff of the Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business at Murray State University."

"Education has always been a focal point of our commitment to corporate giving," said Bob Turok, BB&T – Western Kentucky Market President. "We're proud to contribute to an institution like Murray State University that continues to make a vast difference in the lives of so many students in the Commonwealth and therefore make our communities a better place to live."

The Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business has been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) since 1976 as one of approximately 810 business schools across 53 countries and territories maintaining AACSB accreditation.
