PORTAGEVILLE, MO (KFVS) - A traffic stop in Portageville, Missouri leads to the arrests of two men Saturday, July 14 at 8:20 p.m.

According to Portageville Police Chief Ronnie Adams, officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana after stopping a black Lincoln Town car in the Casey's General Store parking lot for no headlights.

The officers, in cooperation with the Southeast Missouri (SEMO) Drug Task Force, then searched the car and allegedly found 900 grams of marijuana and 48 pills that tested positive for MDMA, also known as ecstasy.

Two men were arrested and taken to jail.

According to Chief Adams, formal charges through the New Madrid County Prosecutor's Office for delivery of a controlled substance are pending.
