Missouri Veterans Home prepares for huge firework show

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Volunteers set up a big fireworks display Tuesday morning, July 3 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. 

It begins just after 9 p.m. The event is put on by the Veterans Home and Tony Tucker and is called "Thunder over Cape."

The Veterans Home and Tucker are collect donations to put on the show.

Volunteers on hand said more than $4,000 was spent on the fireworks.

On Tuesday morning, crews were placing the fireworks in certain spots and developing a plan to complement the music that will be playing on C106 FM.

Police and MoDOT are alerting the public to not park on the streets. 

Family members of Veterans at the home are invited up at the Missouri Veterans Home facility as the visiting public can view the firework show from Cape County Park North.
