ISP: Strong storm winds blow over freightliner in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Illinois State Police said strong winds blew a large truck over in Washington County, Illinois on Interstate 64 at mile-post 56.

Police said the driver and a passenger were injured in the single-vehicle crash.

It happened on Thursday, June 28 at 6:41 p.m.

Police said a 2019 Freightliner was driven by Brian K. Johnson, 65, of Missoula, Montana with Charles P. Johnson, also 65 of Missoula, Montana as a passenger.

They said Brian was headed west on the roadway at the time of the crash. There was a strong thunderstorm with heavy winds and rain going on as well. The winds were strong enough to blow the Freightliner onto its side and it came to rest across both lanes.

Police said the vehicle had to be removed from the scene by a tow truck.
