Boat capsized, one man rescued on Current River near Doniphan, MO
One man swam to shore while the other waited on top of the boat

DONIPHAN, MO (KFVS) - Two men walked away unscathed from a boat rescue in Doniphan, Missouri on Tuesday, June 28.

According to Doniphan Fire Chief Brian Byrd, the men were in a small boat on the Current River about 1/2 mile north of Southern Comfort when the engine died.

This was about 7:30 p.m. during storms on Tuesday evening.

The boat drifted into a line of trees where it capsized.

One man swam to shore but the other said he didn't know how to swim according to Byrd. The man waited on top of the flipped boat until the Doniphan Rescue Team arrived.

Byrd said no one was injured and the men drove away from the incident in their vehicle.
