A deadly head-on crash is under investigation in Jackson County, Illinois.
The crash happened on U.S. Highway 51 at Fox Rd. Wednesday, June 27 at 9:19 p.m.
This is between Carbondale and De Soto, IL.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Kelsey Hazen, of Elkville, IL, was driving a red Toyota Camry northbound when the car crossed into the southbound lane, and hit a gray Mercury Mariner head-on.
A witness of the crash told investigators that Hazen's car swerved into the on-coming lane.
Hazen died at the scene.
Emergency crews used equipment to cut the driver, Robert Rogers of Carbondale, IL, out of his SUV.
Rogers was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
His condition is not clear.
The Sheriff's office says a crash reconstruction is being conducted at this time and the crash remains under investigation.
Jackson County Sheriff deputies, officers with the Carbondale and De Soto Police Departments, crews from the De Soto and Carbondale Township Fire Departments, and the Jackson County Ambulance Service all responded to the crash scene.
