Scott Co. Sheriff's Office warns of scam

BENTON, MO (KFVS) - The Scott Co. Sheriff's Office has received several complaints about the office phone numbers being used for a phone scam.
The scammers are saying over the phone they have paper service for a pending lawsuit or you could pay them money to get it dropped.
The sheriff office does lots of paper service, but won't request money or any other means of payment to drop the paper service. If you would like to verify paper service contact the Civil Process Division.
