Jury finds Carbondale, IL man guilty after 2017 shooting

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) - According to the state's attorney, a jury has found a Carbondale, Illinois man guilty on weapons charges.

Guilty verdicts of aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of weapons by a felon were returned on 21-year-old Rahsann D. Graham, Jr.

The trial ended on June 22, 2018.

The verdicts were connected to a June 2017 incident where shots were fired into a vehicle in the area of East James and Thelma Walker Street in Carbondale, Ill.

One of the passengers in the vehicle was shot and driven to an area hospital.

This happened after a verbal argument at an area convenience store.

The jury also heard evidence that the Graham fired a gun in the direction of a witness early Sunday morning, June 17, 2018, right before his trial was scheduled.  The incident happened in the 500 block of Illinois Avenue and resulted in the defendant being arrested.

Graham is scheduled to be sentenced on August 22, 2018. He could face up to 25 years on combined charges.

Carbondale police investigated the case.
