CAIRO, IL (KFVS) - The dance floor was alive at Cairo High School on Saturday afternoon, June 23 for a summer dance challenge.
Children of all ages traveled from all over the Midwest to perform for "bragging rights."
Warren Herron, the host of the event, said events like this are important for the community.
"This is the perfect chance for a lot of people to showcase their talents, to showcase what they can do as people," he said. "Not only that, keep our youth active. That's the biggest thing we always have to remember."
"In our society, we have a lot of lost teens and kids so it's good for them to have something that they can be around their peers and do without being in the streets," dancer Ty'Real Chamberlain said.
The organizations Bootheel Divas and Fire & Ice Dancers out of Sikeston, Mo. sponsored the event.
The proceeds will go toward Cairo High School Athletic Department.
