MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) - A southeast Missouri man was found guilty on murder and other charges in Jackson County, Illinois court on Tuesday, March 27.
Travis Tyler, 23, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri was found guilty on murder and firearm charges for a deadly Easter morning shooting in 2016.
Tyler was sentenced to a total of 85 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
According to the Jackson Co. State Attorney, on count one first-degree murder he received 60 years. For count two aggravated battery of a firearm, he received 15 years.
On counts three, four and five, aggravated discharge of a firearm, he received five years. On counts four and five aggravated discharge of a firearm, he received five years for each count.
Tyler has to serve 100 percent on first-degree murder and 85 percent on the other four counts.
Tyler and another man, John Ingram, faced murder and firearm charges in connection with the shooting.
Ingram, 23, of St. Louis, Missouri, entered a plea of guilty to the charge aggravated discharge of a firearm and was sentenced to serve six and one-half years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on May 17, 2018.
Tim Beatty, 41, was found dead in a nearby house.
A third man was sentenced to 30 months probation and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service in 2017 in connection with the shooting.
