Man arrested on assault, animal cruelty charges in Graves Co., KY

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon is reporting that a man is behind bars on assault and animal cruelty charges.

On Sunday, September 4 at around 5 p.m., Graves County deputies spoke with a female subject wanting to report that she had been assaulted.

Upon meeting and interviewing the female, deputies noticed the victim had some bruising to the face and determined that she indeed been assaulted.

The victim told deputies Justin T. Jones, 36, of Fancy Farm, Kentucky, was the suspect. The victim stated that Jones not only assaulted her but, killed two kittens, as well.

One of the kittens, according to the victim, was squeezed to death on her chest as Jones was on top of her. The kittens were then thrown into a wooded area behind the home.

Deputies responded to Jones' home and made contact with the suspect. Upon further investigation and after an interview with authorities, Jones was placed under arrest and charged with assault in the fourth-degree and two counts of cruelty to animals in the second-degree.

Jones was lodged in the Graves County Jail.
